On November 29th, 2019, the “Macao Youth Entrepreneurship & Innovation Cultivation Seminar”, co-organised by the Youth Entrepreneurship and Innovation Preparatory Committee and the Office of Student and Alumni Affairs (OSAA) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) was held at USJ’s Ilha Verde Campus.

Mr. Carlos Lam Ka-Vai, CEO of Macao Young Entrepreneur Incubation Centre, was invited to be a guest speaker for the seminar. He introduced the latest developments of youth entrepreneurship in the Greater Bay Area, the background and vision of the Macao Young Entrepreneur Incubation Centre, as well as opportunities for youth entrepreneurship in the Greater Bay Area in the future.

Mr. Lam stated that “the main target of youth entrepreneurship development in Macao is to start entrepreneurship and innovation projects in Macao which can connect commercial and trade co-cooperation between the Portuguese-speaking countries and cities of Greater Bay Area, using the advantages of Macao as one of the cities of Greater Bay Area and its positioning as the Commercial and Trade Co-operation Service Platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, rather than motivating the youth to start their business in Mainland China”.

During the seminar, Mr. Lam also introduced how the Macao Young Entrepreneur Incubation Centre support the development of youth entrepreneurship in terms of capital, space, regulations and networking, as well as the requirements of funding application.

At the end of the insightful seminar, Mr. Lam answered questions from students about entrepreneurship.
