ISE received a delegation from Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University United International College

A delegation from the Department of Life Sciences (DLS) of Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University United International College (UIC) visited ISE as follow-up of the MOU signed between ISE/USJ and the Faculty of Science and Technology of UIC in October 2022.



On March 1, 2023, the Institute of Science and Environment (ISE) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) received visitors from a delegation of the Department of Life Sciences (DLS) of the Beijing Normal University and Hong Kong Baptist University United International College (UIC).

The delegation was warmly welcomed by Prof. David Gonçalves, Dean of ISE, Prof. Ágata Dias, Programme Coordinator for the Master of Environmental Sciences and Management (MESM), Prof. Shirley Siu, Research Coordinator of ISE, and Prof. Thomas Lei.

A meeting was held to discuss further collaborations as follow-up a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between ISE/USJ and the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) of UIC in October 2022. The delegation also received a guided tour of the Institute’s facilities and laboratories.

The UIC representative included Prof. Bruce Xu, Department Head, Prof. Siu-Tai Tsim, Associate Head, Prof. Daniel Ruan, Prof. Donald Lee, Prof. Eason Li, and Prof. Danny Leong.

As the first full-scale cooperation in higher education between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong, Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University United International College (UIC) was jointly founded by Beijing Normal University (BNU) and Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). UIC is the first modern college in the Chinese mainland that upholds a liberal arts education, situated in Zhuhai city in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The ISE/USJ will continue collaborating with DLS/UIC in different areas.
