FSS Professor Gave Talk on School Bullying to Local High School Teachers

On December 6th, 2019, Prof. Ning Tang, Coordinator for the Department of Social Work of USJ’s FSS, was invited by the Macau Baptist College to facilitate a talk on school bullying to school directors and teachers.



On December 6th, 2019, Prof. Ning Tang, Coordinator for the Department of Social Work of the University of Saint Joseph’s Faculty of Social Sciences, was invited by the Macau Baptist College to give a talk on school bullying to school directors and teachers. A total of 83 teachers attended the lecture.

During the three-hour lecture, Prof. Ning Tang firstly introduced the definition, characteristics, possible causes and impact of school bullying. She also interpreted the recently published Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) findings on school bullying, which indicated Macao was one of the worst performing countries and regions from a total of 53 participating countries and regions.

Based on her prior experience as a crisis specialist, Prof. Tang shared some evidence-based interventions and strategies to support teachers in building a safe, positive, and supportive school environment.
