Exploring Nansha: OSAA organised a two-day learning tour to the Greater Bay Area

The Office for Student and Alumni Affairs of USJ organised a two-day Greater Bay Area Learning Tour for faculty, staff, and students. The tour visited local high-tech companies and famous landmarks.
The Office for Student and Alumni Affairs (OSAA) of University of Saint Joseph (USJ) organised a two-day Greater Bay Area Learning Tour for faculty, staff, and students. The USJ delegation visited local high-tech companies and famous landmarks, including the Nansha Tianhou Temple. The tour aimed to deepen the understanding of the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and experience the charm of Chinese culture, fostering a sense of patriotism.
The tour was held from the 23rd to 24th of May. On the first day, the delegation visited the Nansha Planning Exhibition Hall which showcased an overview of Nansha’s history, transportation and ecological environment. Through the professional guide service, visitors could fully understand the achievements of Nansha in deepening the comprehensive cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, the development of science and technology, innovation and industry, as well as the measures for the future development of Nansha.
In the afternoon, the participants went to the GAC Technology Museum .The museum was divided into six sections: the preface hall, power technology, new energy technology, intelligence and connectivity, responsible GAC, and future orientation. Each section respectively presented different aspects of GAC. In order to have a better understanding of the local community, USJ staff and students also visited the Jiaomenhe Residential Community Service Center to know more about the overview of the Jiaomenhe community.
Mr. Ye Wen Long, Year 1 student of the Master of Environmental Sciences and Management programme, said that he gained a deep impression of Nansha’s development and achievements through the visit to the Exhibition Hall, and that through visiting the GAC Technology Museum, he experienced the great progress and brand strength of China’s automobile industry. He believes that the trip has given him a good sense of the future of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao GBA, and while he is full of expectations, convinced that the GBA has great potential for development and vitality.
On the following day, the delegation visited different industrial, academic and research bases in Nansha, including the Guangdong-Macao Youth Innovation Base for international industry integration development, and the famous landmarks Nansha Tianhou Temple .
At the end of the tour, the participants visited the exhibition hall of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone, where they viewed a film about the future of Hengqin as well as its economic, industrial, and social development. This helped to better grasp the current state of Hengqin and Macao. For the delegation to learn more about many facets of the Cooperation Zone, there were also exhibition panels on Hengqin’s location, transportation, changes in appearance, development history, and key industrial projects.
Year 1 student of the Master of Architecture programme, was deeply impressed by the traditional Chinese culture while visiting the famous landmarks in Lu Dongzhao, and while during the visit to the the Guangdong-Macao Youth Innovation Base for international industry integration development, he realised that Nansha has created a lot of opportunities for the young entrepreneurs, which has given him the idea of exploring entrepreneurship in the future. He also looks forward to visiting Nansha again.
