“DIVERSAS” Exhibition Celebrates Linguistic Diversity and Translation at USJ Macao

“DIVERSAS III – Diversity in the Portuguese and Chinese Languages: 3rd Exhibition of Student Works from the Portuguese-Chinese Translation Studies Programme and General Portuguese” inauguration held on 30 September 2025 at USJ Macao.
The inauguration of the exhibition “DIVERSAS III – Diversity in the Portuguese and Chinese Languages: 3rd Exhibition of Student Works from the Portuguese-Chinese Translation Studies Program and General Portuguese” took place on 30 September 2025, at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) Macao. This project was organised by the Department of Languages and Culture in collaboration with the Department of Architecture and Design, of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FAH).
The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Hong Wai Man, Acting Head of the Student Department at the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ), and Dr. Patrícia N. Quaresma, Director of the Instituto Português do Oriente (IPOR).
The exhibition is open to the public with free admission until 17 October, 2025, at the Kent Wong Gallery, B/1, at USJ. On display are projects developed by the students from the Bachelor’s Degree in Portuguese-Chinese Translation Studies, and for the first time this year, by the students of General Portuguese from various degree programmes at USJ, created during the 2024/2025 academic year.
The opening ceremony featured a special programme in celebration of the International Translation Day, including a presentation by alumni Io Chong Cheong (Sam), who shared insights into his final project. This was followed by a presentation from student Sishu Chen (Rose), who talked about her enriching exchange experience in Portugal.
To conclude the celebration, the session welcomed an online lecture by Dr. Nuno Rocha, titled “Artificial Intelligence, Video Games, and Translation: Where Technology Meets Culture”, offering a fascinating reflection on the emerging frontiers of the field.

Exposição “DIVERSAS” celebra a diversidade linguística e a tradução na USJ
Foi inaugurada na passada terça-feira, dia 30 de setembro, a exposição “DIVERSAS III – A Diversidade nas Línguas Portuguesa e Chinesa: 3ª Exposição de Trabalhos dos Estudantes do Curso de Estudos de Tradução Português-Chinês e de Português Geral”. Esta exposição trata-se de uma iniciativa do Departamento de Línguas e Cultura, organizada em parceria com o Departamento de Arquitetura e Design, ambos da Faculdade de Artes e Humanidades (FAH) da Universidade de São José. A cerimónia de abertura contou com a presença da Dra. Hong Wai Man, Chefe Interina do Departamento dos Alunos da Direcção dos Serviços de Educação e de Desenvolvimento da Juventude (DSEDJ) e da Dra. Patrícia N. Quaresma, Diretora do Instituto Português do Oriente (IPOR).
A mostra está aberta à visitação, com entrada livre, até ao dia 17 de outubro de 2025, na Galeria Kent Wong, B/1 da Universidade de São José (USJ). Em exibição estão projetos desenvolvidos pelos alunos da Licenciatura em Estudos de Tradução Português-Chinês e, pela primeira vez este ano, por estudantes de Português de diferentes licenciaturas da USJ, realizados durante o ano letivo de 2024-2025.
A abertura da exposição foi marcada por um programa especial em celebração ao Dia da Tradução que contou com a participação do antigo aluno Io Chong Cheong (Sam), que partilhou sobre a elaboração do seu projeto final de curso. Tendo-se seguido o testemunho da estudante Sishu Chen (Rose), que relatou a sua enriquecedora experiência de intercâmbio em Portugal. Para encerrar as comemorações, a sessão teve a honra de receber uma conferência online com o Professor Nuno Rocha, intitulada “Inteligência Artificial, Videojogos e Tradução: Onde a tecnologia encontra a cultura”, que proporcionou uma reflexão fascinante sobre os novos horizontes da área.
