Volunteers from USJ and friends, as well as Sands Eco-ambassadors keenly joined-hands together in the coastal clean-up activity on 17 September, 2022.
Volunteers from University of Saint Joseph (USJ) and friends, as well as Sands Eco-ambassadors keenly joined-hands together in the coastal clean-up activity last Saturday, September 17, as part of the community outreach program by Institute of Science and Environment at USJ. It was a very hot and humid day but the volunteers patiently collected and sorted (mainly plastics and styrofoam) litter from the beaches next to Avenida de Cinco de Outubro and Tam Kong Temple in Coloane. The more than 30 volunteers were not enough to totally clean-up the areas, but may this kind of activity raise awareness about pressing environmental issues and serve as an inspiration for others in our community to be more conscious and responsible in the way our lifestyle impact our environment.
This activity, which will be done on a regular basis, is organised within the context of the project “Wetland ecosystems: a nature-based solution for coastal protection and plastic pollution entrapment in Macao” sponsored by the Drop by Drop project.
