The talk served as a platform to educate and empower students, providing them with valuable knowledge and tools to make informed decisions regarding drug use.

The BeCool Anti-Drug Prevention Lecture was held at USJ by the BeCool Project team of the Association of Rehabilitation of Drug Abusers of Macau (ARTM) on the 11th of April. This project is supported by the Social Welfare Bureau to promote a healthy lifestyle among university students in Macau. The talk served as a platform to educate and empower students, providing them with valuable knowledge and tools to make informed decisions regarding drug use.

During the talk, students were given the opportunity to experience a reaction test by wearing goggles that simulated the visual impairment caused by alcohol intoxication or drug use. This practical exercise allowed the students to better understand the physical impairments associated with being under the influence of alcohol or drugs and the potential danger.

Interactive discussions helped the students to understand the harmful effects of abusing drugs on individuals, families and society. The session emphasised the importance of making healthy choices, building resilience and seeking support when faced with challenges. The BeCool project team also introduced the students to the services offered by ARTM, providing them with relevant information for their future careers in the field.

The session was conducted in English and was attended by more than 40 students, the majority of whom were international students, who took an active part in the informative session. The BeCool project team takes pride in conducting preventive talks in schools and universities with Portuguese and English curricula. The event played an important role in raising awareness among our students about drug prevention and promoting a healthy and safe campus environment.

Guests and speakers from the BeCool project team included Coordinator Ms Rute Borges, Mr Durant Chao, Mr Rui Machado, Ms Bianca Lao and Ms Chu Wing Yan.
