A delegation from the USJ Faculty of Arts and Humanities visited the School of Arts of the Guangdong Peizheng College to discuss and co-organise a joint art exhibition exchange in December 2023.
On 6 November, 2023, a delegation from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FAH) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) visited the School of Arts at the Guangdong Peizheng College in Guangzhou, China, to discuss and co-organise an art exhibition exchange in the coming month.
The delegation, led by Dean of FAH Professor Carlos Sena Caires, accompanied by Visiting Professor Vincent Ho and Senior Lecturer Sandra Olga Ng, was warmly welcome by the delegation from Guangdong Peizheng College formed by Professor Liu Fei, Dean of School of Arts, Mr Li Xiuchen, Director of Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Affairs Office, Professor Wang Haibin, Vice Dean of Faculty of Arts, and teachers from the Faculty.
The visit started with a heartfelt welcoming reception at the Administrative Building, followed by a sight visit to the exhibition area of the Library Building, the Rongju Building and the Art Building. Throughout the visit, the two delegations engaged in exciting discussions and shared experiences of art and teaching. Lacquer painting, one of the College’s core teaching areas, was shown during the campus tour, providing the USJ delegation with eye-opening ideas on how to combine traditional art and craft techniques with contemporary artistic approaches.
Both parties agreed that an exchange exhibition will be held at USJ and Peizheng College in December 2023 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the College. Outstanding student works from FAH will be selected for exhibition under the theme “Designing Tomorrows“, among the works of students and teachers from Peizheng College. Both parties are looking forward to explore more future collaborations and opportunities.
