Celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival at USJ: Embracing Tradition and Fostering Intercultural Exchange

USJ hosted a Mid-Autumn Celebration Event on the 13th of September, aiming to enhance students’ understanding of Chinese traditional festivals, promote cross-cultural exchange, and enrich students’ appreciation of Chinese traditional culture through various activities.
Prof. José Manuel Simões, Programme Coordinator for the Master of Communication and Media at USJ, participated in the 2024 “Training Seminar on the National Conditions of AIPIM (Macau Portuguese and English Media Association)” in Fudan University, Shanghai.
Prof. Jaroslaw Duraj of the the Faculty of Religious Studies and Philosophy, along with students of Bachelor of Christian Studies, participated in a trip to Xi’an, China, that was organised to inspire the participants to reflect on the adaption of world religions to Chinese culture in Chinese history.
To assist new students in integrating into campus life, the Office for Student and Alumni Affairs of USS organised fourteen welcoming activities at the beginning of the academic year 2024/2025 aimed to promote student interaction, foster friendships, and provide necessary information and support.

The Doctoral School at USJ Macao organised its 2024 Doctoral Symposium under the theme on “Devising Multi-Inter-Transdisciplinary Research” from 5 – 8 November.
The collaboration between USJ and the ASJ schools represents a significant step in advancing educational excellence and fostering cross-cultural understanding within the Greater Bay Area, echoing the National policies.

Prof. Nuno Soares, Head of the Department of Architecture and Design at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of USJ, has received Nomination Award in the Interior Lighting Design Category at the Architecture Madrid Awards 2023, for the Macau Cathedral Lighting Design project.
Dr. Ivan Arraut, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Business and Law, was invited to attend a conference in pure mathematics, held from August 25th to 30th, 2024, at the Simons Laufer Mathematical Sciences Institute (SLMath) located on the University of California, Berkeley campus.
