Series of Sustainability Workshops | Urban Gardening for Social Inclusion and Well-being

19

May

The USJ Green Committee and Britcham Macao are offering a Series of Sustainability Workshops as part of the USJ Sustainability Month, with the third workshop titled “Urban Gardening for Social Inclusion and Well-being” taking place on Thursday 19th of May.

ABOUT THE SERIES:

As part of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) Sustainability Month, the USJ Green Committee, together with Britcham Macao, are offering a series of free sustainability-related workshops open to the community, organised around the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) framework.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:

Urban Gardening for Social Inclusion and Well-being

(SDG 3: Good Health and well-being, SDG 10: Reduced inequality; SDG 12: Responsible consumption and production)

This workshop provides insights into applications of urban gardening in Macao, specifically collaborations with the Association for Addiction Recovery of Macao (ARTM) and USJ. In a highly dense urban city, sustainable farming provides much more than “clean” products; the contact with nature has the potential to promote better mental and social equality.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:

Guilherme Martins, co-founder of MightyGreens and Ph.D. candidate in Science and Environment at USJ, with a background in architecture, project management, and permaculture, manages several urban and organic farming gardening projects in collaboration with local schools and associations.
