USJ’s Vice-Rector Dr. Teresa Loong attended the China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week (CAECW) held in Guizhou, to expand USJ’s regional cooperation network in higher education.
From 28th to 30th July, 2026, Dr. Teresa Loong, Vice-Rector for Student Life of University of Saint Joseph (USJ), led a delegation to attend the China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week (CAECW) held in Guizhou, to expand USJ’s regional cooperation network in higher education. The delegation members, including David Yang, Assistant Head of the Domestic Student Recruitment Office, and Molly Fan, Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Education, participated in a number of events and engaged in in-depth exchanges with educational representatives from China and ASEAN member states.
This year’s CAECW featured a rich programme of activities in which Vice-Rector Dr. Teresa Loong was invited as a special guest and represented USJ as a co-building partner in the unveiling ceremony of the China-ASEAN Innovation and Entrepreneurship College. Dr. Teresa Loong also served as a prize presenter at the 2026 CAECW World University Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition.
During the event, the delegation visited the National Big Data (Guizhou) Comprehensive Pilot Zone, China’s first national-level big data comprehensive pilot zone, gaining in-depth insights into the application of big data technology in education and government affairs.
The China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week adheres to the spirit of “Equality, Mutual Trust, Openness, Innovation, Mutual Learning, and Win-Win Cooperation”. The Cooperation Week continuously promotes the building of a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future, serves China-ASEAN educational cooperation and people-to-people exchanges, and contributes to the Belt and Road Initiative.
About the China-ASEAN Education Exchange Week
The China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week (CAECW) is the most representative intergovernmental educational cooperation platform between China and ASEAN member states, co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, the Ministry of Education of China, and the People’s Government of Guizhou Province. Since its establishment in 2008, it has been held annually in Guiyang, Guizhou Province.
The 2026 China-ASEAN Education Exchange Week, themed “Empowering the Construction of a Friendly Homeland through Smart Education”, was held from 28th July to 2nd August, 2026, in Guiyang, Guizhou. Since its opening on 28th July, 35 key events were concentrated during the opening period, bringing together 450 Chinese and international guests, including approximately 120 international participants, among them ASEAN education officials, diplomatic envoys to China, representatives of international organizations, Chinese and foreign university presidents, experts and scholars, business representatives, and young students. Throughout the year, 60 regular thematic activities will also be held in China and in countries including Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, and Indonesia, with 6 of them independently hosted by local ASEAN institutions, marking the transformation of the Cooperation Week from a “phased event” to a “year-round in-depth engagement.”
This collaboration aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
