On March 27, 2026, Associate Professor Vitor Teixeira from the Department of Psychology of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) was invited to deliver a guest lecture at the Faculty of Psychology and Education of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) in Porto, within the Master’s programme in Psychology.
The session, titled “Positive Psychology: Foundations and Intervention”, took place as part of the course Advanced Seminars in Psychology II and brought together students from the specialisations in Clinical and Health Psychology, as well as Education and Human Development.
The invitation was extended by Maria Elisa Veiga, Visiting Academic in the Master of Counselling and Psychotherapy at USJ.
The class combined key theoretical foundations of Positive Psychology with a strong practical component. Students were actively involved in a range of hands-on exercises, exploring topics such as character strengths and their application across different contexts, including clinical, educational, and family settings.
The session also encouraged open discussion and critical reflection on the relevance of Positive Psychology in contemporary practice. The high level of student engagement contributed to a dynamic and enriching learning experience.
This visit also reflects the ongoing collaboration between the Faculty of Health Sciences at USJ and the Faculty of Psychology and Education at UCP-Porto, reinforcing academic exchange and shared teaching initiatives between the two institutions.
