About the Programme
The Post Graduate Diploma in Education is an evening programme with an expected
duration of between 12 months and 18 months. The medium of instruction for the
programme is either Chinese or English (subject to student enrollment). The PGDE
recruits in-service teachers and graduates from a full range of disciplines and
provides professional attitudes, skills and competences related to teaching and
learning in Macau schools.
The course promotes active and collaborative styles of learning to engage students in
professional training and development. In the initial stage of the programme,
students complete the course work, comprising six common scholastic modules plus
one specialized module, after which they may progress to the final stage and
complete their teaching practice in schools under the guidance of an experienced
teacher and a university tutor. Students without previous experience in teaching are
placed in an appropriate partner school to gain the necessary practical teaching
experience.
