Dr Jackson Tsui
Research Associate, Xavier Centre for Memory and Identity
Rev. Dr. Jackson Tsui is a Research Associate at the Xavier Centre for Memory and Identity, University of Saint Joseph Macao. He earned his Ph.D. in Religious Studies from the University of Saint Joseph in 2022, a Master of Divinity with a concentration in Biblical Study from Gateway Seminary (formerly Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary) in 2009, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from San Jose State University in 2005.
Rev. Dr. Tsui serves as the Senior Pastor at Macau Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where he leads Chinese and Myanmar congregations, oversees 450 members, manages counseling needs, and provides pastoral care. He also directs the Worship Ministry, teaches Bible study classes, and engages in various community services.
He has held various roles, including Adjunct Lecturer at Macau Bible Institute and Circulation Supervisor at Golden Gate Theological Seminary Library, contributing to both academic and religious communities. Additionally, he has extensive experience in finance, having worked in various roles at Covad Communications, showcasing his versatile leadership and financial management skills.
His research interests include Protestantism, Church History, and Pentecostalism. Rev. Dr. Tsui is deeply fascinated by the evolution and impact of Protestantism within different cultural contexts, especially its role in shaping societal values and beliefs. In Church History, he explores the development and transformation of Christian doctrines, practices, and institutions over the centuries, aiming to understand the historical contexts that have influenced contemporary Christian thought. His interest in Pentecostalism focuses on its rapid global growth, the dynamic expressions of faith within Pentecostal communities, and its theological and sociocultural implications. Through his research, he seeks to contribute to the scholarly understanding of Christianity’s diverse manifestations and its interactions with various cultural and religious traditions.
