Professor Lobo contribution had a very intense and fruitful agenda on the intersection of academic research and startup ecosystems.
Professor Alexandre Lobo, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) Macao joined the SIM Conference 2025 (Startups & Investment Matching), held on 8 – 9 May, at the Centro de Congressos da Alfândega do Porto, Portugal. This event is consolidating its strength every year and brought together global startup leaders, investors, and academic innovators to foster collaboration and drive forward-thinking entrepreneurship.
Professor Lobo contribution had a very intense and fruitful agenda on the intersection of academic research and startup ecosystems. During the event, he engaged in a productive exchange with the Macao Delegation led by the DSEDT (Direcção dos Serviços de Economia e Desenvolvimento Tecnológico), strengthening bilateral ties and promoting international collaboration. He also held discussions with several startups interested in joining the Macau Spin Incubation Centre at USJ.
In addition, Professor Lobo held key meetings with Higor Esteves, Vice President of the Business Confederation of the CPLP (CE-CPLP), Joshua Moreira from FCJ Venture Builder Portugal, and Bruno Gutman from the Ordem dos Advogados de Braga, opening doors for future partnerships across sectors and geographies.
The SIM Conference 2025, organized by Startup Portugal, served as a platform for meaningful connections between founders, investors, and thought leaders, and USJ plays an important role as a strategic gateway between Asia and Europe for innovation and entrepreneurship, and between academia and industry.
