USJ signed Strategic Agreement with the Macau Science Center to Cultivate Future Scientific and Creative Talents

USJ officially signed a cooperation agreement with the Macao Science Center (MSC) on 30 June 2025, becoming one of the strategic partners of Program for the Development of Scientific Innovation Talent of “Youth Science and Technology Village”.
In order to open up a better scientific and technological innovation growth path for Macao youth, the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) officially signed a cooperation agreement with the Macao Science Center (MSC) on 30 June 2025, becoming one of the strategic partners of Program for the Development of Scientific Innovation Talent of “Youth Science and Technology Village”. This collaboration will integrate the academic strengths of USJ and the top science popularisation platform of the MSC to provide local students with scientific and technological potential with a systematic training programme that covers learning, practice and career planning, helping Macao to cultivate internationally competitive scientific and technological professionals.
The signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement was held at the Conference Center of MSC, and was signed by the Curator of the Macao Science Center, Dr. Sio Hon Pan, and Rector of USJ, Reverend Professor Stephen Morgan.
After the ceremony, the USJ delegation visited the International Laboratory for Science Popularization of BeiDou Navigation Satellite System, the Macao Laboratory of Information Technology Application and Innovation and some corresponding galleries at the MSC, and gained an in-depth understanding of the Science Popularization Experimental Curriculum on BeiDou Navigation Satellite System exclusively offered by MSC, as well as the information technology courses designed for high school students in cooperation with leading mainland companies such as China Electronics Corp. and Huawei. These high-quality facilities and special courses will be an important resource platform for students’ practice and research in the “Youth Science and Technology Village” programme.
Guests attending the signing ceremony included: Dr. Mok Ian Ian, President of the Board of Directors of Macau Science Center Co., Ltd., Mr. U Hon Sang, Board Member and Executive Committee Member of MSC, and Mr. Oscar Leong, Education and Exhibits Controller of MSC; Dr. Teresa Loong, Vice-Rector for Student Life of USJ, Prof. Carlos Sena Caires, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of USJ, Prof. George Du, Dean of the Institute for Data Engineering and Science of USJ, Prof. André Antunes, Acting Dean of the Institute of Science and Environment of USJ, Prof. Isabel Tchiang, Acting Dean of the School of Education of USJ, Prof. Karen Tagulao, Prof. Wu Hao, Mr. Ben Lei, Head of Domestic Student Recruitment Office, and Ms. Jenny Mok from the same Office, as well as other representatives from both parties.
