USJ Representatives Visit and Exchange Tour in Hangzhou

Sponsored by the Macau Foundation and supported by the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government of the Macao SAR, USJ organised a four-day exchange tour to Hangzhou from 2 to 5 November. Members of the delegation visited mainland universities for exchanges and visited local landmarks to gain a better understanding of the country.
Sponsored by the Macau Foundation and supported by the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government of the Macao SAR, the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) organised a four-day exchange tour to Hangzhou from 2 to 5 November. Members of the delegation visited mainland universities for exchanges and visited local landmarks to gain a better understanding of the country.
The delegation of USJ Mainland Cultural Tour – Hangzhou 2024, consisting of 16 members, is led by Dr. Teresa Loong, Vice-Rector for Student Life of USJ, and Ms. Evonne Chiu, Founder of the USJ Alumni Association. During the tour in Hangzhou, visited Zhejiang International Studies University and were warmly welcomed by Ms. Chai Gaiying, Vice President of ZISU, Ms. Qiu Ping, Secretary of the Party Committee of the International Business School, Ms. Fang Pan, Deputy Minister of Student Affairs, Mr. Yan Weijian, Deputy Director of the International Office and Deputy Director of the Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Affairs Office, and students and professors of the different faculties. At the event, a graduate of ZISU, who will soon be joining a study tour in Macau, introduced the history and future prospects of the campus, followed by USJ representatives sharing insights on the current developments in Macao and an overview of USJ.
During the meeting, Vice-Rector Dr. Teresa Loong introduced the internationalisation of USJ and its faculties, discussed potential cooperation in relevant academic fields, and looked forward to future exchanges and collaboration with Zhejiang International Studies University in teaching and research.
In her concluding remarks, the Vice President of ZISU, Ms. Chai Gaiying, expressed her hope to accelerate the implementation of academic projects that both universities can jointly develop, integrating faculty and academic resources to achieve mutually beneficial cooperation.
The USJ delegation visited Zhejiang International Business School to discuss e-commerce and cross-border e-commerce. The participants included Prof. José Simões from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Prof. Alessandro Lampo from the Faculty of Business and Law, and students and alumni from various faculties. After the visit, everyone gained a deeper understanding of the field.
During the tour in Hangzhou, USJ faculties, students and alumni also visited local company ZNCartoon to learn about the creation of 2D to 3D animation, from character design to voiceover, and the production of a complete animated film. They also visited the Zhejiang Museum, Grand Canal, and Gongchen Bridge to learn about the history and development of Hangzhou.
Those who participated in the activity, including Master of Business Administration students, mentioned that through this exchange tour, they learned about Hangzhou’s urban planning and construction, as well as the history and legendary stories of local ancient buildings and classic attractions. While enjoying the beautiful scenery, they also broadened their horizons and increased their knowledge in various aspects. This opportunity also allowed them to exchange ideas with alumni and benefit from the experience.
