This visit included a series of collaborative meetings with the college leadership and a dedicated presentation aimed at undergraduate students at Gengdan Institute of Beijing University of Technology.

Following last October’s visit to Gengdan Institute of Beijing University of Technology, the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) returned for a follow-up visit on 25 November. This visit included a series of collaborative meetings with the college leadership and a dedicated presentation aimed at undergraduate students, showcasing USJ’s unique features, admissions policies, and future prospects. The event sparked enthusiastic interactions, enhancing educational exchanges and student mobility between Beijing and Macao.

The delegation led by Dr. Teresa Loong, Vice-Rector for Student Life, comprised Dr. Stephen Chan Teng-Fong, Office Director of the Diocesan Catholic Education Committee, Prof. Dai Jianbiao, Associate Dean of the Institute of Data Engineering and Science, Prof. José Simões, Associate Professor of the Department of Media, Arts, and Technology – Faculty of Arts and Humanities, David Yang, Director of the Institutional Development Office, and Jenny Mok, Senior Officer of the Student Recruitment Office. They were welcomed by Wu Tao, Executive Vice-President of Gengdang College, along with Zhang Ru, Dean of the School of Information Engineering, and representatives from the International Exchange Office, who participated in discussions to explore various areas of collaboration, including faculty exchange programmes, student pathways, and joint final exhibitions.

During the subsequent presentation, the USJ recruitment team outlined the university’s internationalised teaching approach, course offerings, admission requirements, and employment prospects. They also invited Gengdang alumnus Shen Ziwen, a second-year master’s student at USJ’s Institute of Science and Environmental Studies, to share his experiences of studying and living in Macao. Dr. Dai and Prof. Simões engaged in meaningful discussions with the students present. In his closing remarks, Dr. Nong encouraged students to broaden their international horizons and seize the opportunities that Macao offers as a platform for Sino-Portuguese relations and development in the Greater Bay Area.

This visit deepens the cooperative consensus between the two institutions and it also promotes Gengdang students’ understanding of USJ through face-to-face engagement and alumni sharing, specially for those looking to pursue further studies in Macao at USJ.

USJ is committed to fostering diverse partnerships with mainland universities, providing students with expanded opportunities for cross-regional learning and development.
