Faculty members and students from the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) Macao joined the SoundLab Symposium: Sound, Space and Multi-Senses held at the City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) on 29 May 2025. The event focused on the fascinating realms of sound, space, and multi-sensory experiences.
Prof. Gérald Estadieu and Prof. Sandra Olga Ng, accompanied by four students from the Bachelor of Communication and Media and Bachelor of Design programmes, represented USJ Macao at this intensive and fruitful symposium. They joined with guests from CityUHK’s School of Creative Media (SCM) to present a variety of demos, papers, workshops, and creative pieces.
The team showcased OTTOsonics and their pioneering approach to Spatial Audio, along with several recent projects about the possibilities of the OTTOsonics system. Their presentations were met with keen interest and appreciation from the symposium’s attendees.
The day-long event featured four insightful papers and two engaging workshops, culminating in a concert that highlighted the innovative work of students. This concert provided a platform for young talents to display their creativity and technical prowess, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended.
The SoundLab Symposium was an excellent opportunity for USJ participants to collaborate with peers and experts from CityUHK and other Universities from Hong Kong, fostering a spirit of innovation and interdisciplinary cooperation. The event underscored the potential of sound and space to create immersive, multi-sensory experiences and the importance of academic collaboration in pushing the boundaries of creative media.
