The University of Saint Joseph welcomed a delegation from the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP), Cambodia, for an institutional visit and a signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
On 29 June, the University of Saint Joseph (USJ), Macao, welcomed a delegation from the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP), Cambodia, for an institutional visit and a signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement marks a significant step in fostering academic collaboration, enhancing internationalisation, and promoting knowledge exchange between the two institutions.
USJ’s Acting Rector, Dr. Alejandro Salcedo Garcia, emphasised that the partnership reflects a shared vision of advancing higher education, fostering intercultural dialogue, and promoting joint initiatives in teaching, research, and student mobility. He noted that this engagement reinforces USJ’s mission to serve as a bridge between cultures and to expand its international partnerships.
RUPP’s Vice-Rector for International Relations, Prof. Oum Ravy, expressed that it was an honour for RUPP to reaffirm its commitment to strengthening ties with USJ. Prof. Ravy highlighted that this MoU serves as a foundation for long-term cooperation, enabling both universities to contribute meaningfully to regional development and global academic exchange.
In attendance at the visit were members of USJ’s leadership and faculty, including the Vice-Rector for Internationalisation and Academic Affairs, Prof. Álvaro Barbosa; the Vice-Rector for Student Life, Dr. Teresa Loong; the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Prof. Carlos Caires; the Head of the Department of Languages and Cultures, Prof. Tânia Marques; as well as colleagues from the International Affairs Office, Mrs. Paula Mota and Mr. Paulo Albuquerque.
The visit concluded with a campus tour showcasing USJ’s facilities, providing RUPP representatives with a closer look at the university’s academic environment and infrastructure. This engagement further strengthens the bonds of cooperation and highlights the shared commitment to building bridges across cultures and academic communities.
