The friendly football match gave players from both sides a chance to enhance their skills while deepening sports and cultural ties between the two universities.
A friendly football match was held between the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) Macao and the Hong Kong Metropolitan University at the Macao Workers’ Stadium on the morning of 17 January. Under the theme “Exchanging Skills, Progressing Together“, the match gave players from both sides a chance to enhance their skills while deepening sports and cultural ties between the two universities.
After the game, the coaches and players from both teams spoke highly of the exchange opportunity. Mr. Pedro Manhão Sou, head coach of the USJ football team, said, “Playing against a strong team like HKMU was a valuable experience. Our players practised adapting to the pace and implementing tactics in real time, and identified areas to improve.”
This friendly match is part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen sports connection between USJ Macao and other universities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The activity has laid a solid foundation for future multi-level and multi-format sports collaboration. Both institutions expressed their intention to explore regular exchange mechanisms and jointly promote the development of university sports in the two regions.
