USJ Celebrates 2024 World Social Work Day

Head of the Department of Social Work, Prof. Francisco Botelho, gave a keynote speech on the topic ‘From Passion to Compassion’ regarding health and wellbeing of social workers as well as how to overcome them.



This year’s “World Social Work Day” was celebrated on Tuesday, 19th March, 2024, with the theme of “Buen Vivir: Shared Future for Transformative Change”. The event was hosted by Professional Council of Social Workers and sponsored by the Macao Government’s Social Welfare Bureau, organised by General Women’s Association of Macau. 

Prof. Francisco Botelho, Head of the Department of Social Work of the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) was invited as keynote speaker, shared on the topic ‘From Passion to Compassion’ regarding health and wellbeing of social workers. Key messages of the speech include the actual challenges of local social workers, as well as how to overcome them, with emphasis on USJ’s commitment and care on the health of current and future social work students and professionals. 

The Faculty of Health Sciences is committed to promote a healthier future with a shared vision of the global societies to breach the discrepancies of treatments of those in need.
