School of Education hosted the "10th Anniversary Celebration of the Postgraduate Diploma in Education Programme" and the "Seminar on the Future of Teacher Education"

The School of Education celebrated the 10th anniversary of its Post-Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) programme with a seminar, themed “Preparing for Tomorrow: Curriculum Strategies for AI Teaching – Challenges, Opportunities, and Innovations” held on the 20th of April, 2024.



On the 20th of April, 2024, the School of Education (SED) celebrated the 10th anniversary of its Post-Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) programme with an seminar aimed to explore the trends and challenges in future education and promote collaboration among universities. The seminar themed “Preparing for Tomorrow: Curriculum Strategies for AI Teaching – Challenges, Opportunities, and Innovations,” brought together guests, experts from the education sector, and outstanding graduates of the programme.

During the event, Prof. Isabel Tchiang Van Man, Programme Coordinator of PGDE, delivered the welcome address. Principal Kou Kam Fai of Pui Ching Middle School delivered a keynote speech on “Outlook for Future Teachers,” delving into the roles and challenges of teachers in future education. Following this, Tam Sio Wa, Head of the Division of Tertiary Educational Cooperation and Exchange of the Education and Youth Development Bureau, delivered important remarks underscoring the significance of the seminar in the higher education domain.

Subsequently, the seminar commenced with its first session themed “Secrets of Childhood: The Key to 21st Century Education in Primary and Kindergarten Level”, outstanding graduates of the 2019/2020 cohort, Mr Tony Li Tuo Lin and Ms Kico Sam Wun Teng, shared their valuable experiences and profound insights into childhood education gained from their teaching practices.

The second part featured a presentation by Principal Cristina Maria Gloria Sousa of Centro de Educação Infantil Santo António, focused on ” Promoting Children’s Well-being in a Kindergarten”, emphasized the importance of creating an environment that supports comprehensive child development.

Lastly, the seminar concluded with a roundtable discussion led by Dr. Jean-Young Nyan, Director of The Research & Teaching Center for PBL of the School of Future Education of Beijing Normal University, Dr. Stephen Chan Teng Fong, Office Director of the Diocesan Catholic Education Commission, Mr. Lei Chan Pong, ICT and STEAM Teacher at Pui Ching Middle School, and Assistant Research Professor of SED Prof Wu Hao. They shared their views and experiences on curriculum strategies for AI teaching, addressing the challenges and opportunities facing the education sector.

Attendees expressed their appreciation for the valuable insights and practical experiences shared during the seminar, recognizing its significance in understanding future education trends. The School of Education remains committed to organizing similar academic events to foster exchanges and collaboration in the education field, contributing to the advancement of education.
