ISE participates in the Forum on the International Day for Biodiversity 2026

A group of professors and students of the USJ’s Institute of Science and Environment (ISE) participated in the Forum on the International Day for Biodiversity 2026 in Hengqin on 16 May.



A delegation of the Institute of Science and Environment (ISE) at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ), composed by Prof. Thomas Lei, Prof. Cristina Calheiros, and students Cecilia Xie, Tammy Zhao, Avis Iao, Mikael Leong, and Aegon Chang, participated in the Forum on the International Day for Biodiversity 2026 in Hengqin on 16 May.

ISE students gave presentations at the forum to share their academic research across different areas of expertise and subsequently received first prize, second prize, and honorable mention awards for their excellent presentations, showing great success and recognition for their work.

In addition, Prof. Thomas Lei, Chair of the ISE Scientific Council, was invited to serve as an academic committee member at the forum and to give a short presentation during the Luncheon Academic Sharing Session. He was also interviewed on-site by students from the BNBU Media and Communication Studies. 

The Forum on International Day for Biodiversity 2026, Hengqin, was organised by the Urban Planning and Construction Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and Beijing Normal-Hong Kong Baptist University (BNBU). The forum also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), in particular SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 14: Life Below Water, SDG 15: Life on Land, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
