This year, USJ collaborated with Taobao for its annual Faculty Day event, showcasing a “Macau Spring Renewal Station” and several coffee stations in the Ilha Verde Campus.

The highly anticipated annual Faculty Day event, organised by the graduating class of Year 4 students at the University of Saint Joseph’s (USJ) Faculty of Business and Law (FBL) was held in conjunction with Taobao’s launch of the “Taobao Macao Spring Renewal Station”. The event, which took place on 22nd March, not only fostered a spirit of rejuvenation for the Spring season but also symbolised the transition of our students into the professional world.

This year’s theme, “International Coffee Fair,” perfectly complemented the relaxing ambiance of the Taobao station, featuring captivating displays and generously sponsored giveaways. Attendees had the opportunity to indulge in coffee tastings provided by the local artisan coffee shops.

Officiating guests of the event included the Rector of USJ, Rev’d Professor Stephen Morgan, Vice-Rector Dr. Teresa Loong, and Dean of FBL Prof. Jenny Lao Phillips. From Taobao, the event was marked by the presence of Ms. Doris Guo, Director of the Southeast Asia, Hong Kong & Macau region of Tmall Taobao Global Business Unit, and Ms. Sabrina Yang, Business Director of Tmall Taobao Global Business Unit. Also present were Mr. Rutger Verschuren, Chairman of the France Macau Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Derio Chan, Chairman of the China Europe International Business Association, and Ms. Angela Kam, Managing Director of Kenglam Cultural Development Co., as esteemed guests for the inauguration.

This annual event serves as a platform for students to delve into the realms of management, offering a unique opportunity for experiential learning by addressing topics relevant to Macao’s reality as an international tourism and leisure hub.

The University would like to express its sincere gratitude for the collaboration with a renowned international brand like Taobao. This partnership has provided students with invaluable insights into the transformative power of e-commerce and electronic platforms, exemplified by Taobao, and how these platforms revolutionise businesses, including traditional coffee shops that grace every corner of Macao’s streets.

In addition to the captivating exhibition, the event featured a series of public lectures. One of the highlights was a lecture on E-commerce delivered by Ms. Sabrina Yang, Business Director of Tmall Taobao Global Business Unit for the Hong Kong and Macao region. Representatives from Lotus Coffee, Bask Macau, Yuan Coffee, Wish Coffee and Refreshments, Pace Coffee House, and the USJ Business Club also shared their expertise and insights.
