The College of Saint Anthony (CSA) and the School of Saint Anthony (SSA) in the Philippines formalised partnership with USJ Macao through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding.

On January 20, 2025, the College of Saint Anthony (CSA) and the School of Saint Anthony (SSA) in the Philippines formalised partnership with the University of Saint Joseph (USJ Macao) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement signifies a new chapter in their collaborative initiatives.

This partnership has generated diverse opportunities for students aspiring to pursue undergraduate degrees in Macao, allowing the delegation to explore various programs across different faculties. To formalize the partnership, USJ Macao organised an educational and cultural immersion tour for the visiting delegation. This tour provided students with the invaluable opportunity to engage with faculty deans and other academic representatives, facilitating discussions about the curriculum and addressing any inquiries the students may have had. Delegates from CSA and SSA expressed enthusiasm for the collaborative prospects, appreciating the multicultural environment represented by students and faculty members from over 40 nationalities.

MoU Signing Ceremony

The signing ceremony for the MoU was marked by the presence of Prof. Álvaro Barbosa, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Internationalisation at USJ Macao, and Dr. Juliet Reyes, Principal of the College of Saint Anthony. This event was witnessed by USJ faculty representatives and 11 CSA students, symbolising a strong commitment to collaboration.

Meetings with the Faculties

Following the MoU signing, the delegations from CSA and SSA articulated their students’ interests in various academic disciplines, leading to organised meetings with faculty deans and members from USJ Macao. During these sessions, programme features and highlights were effectively presented, accompanied by firsthand accounts from current students. The ensuing discussions and Q&A sessions adeptly addressed the students’ queries and concerns.

Cultural and Educational Immersion Tour

The CSA and SSA delegations participated in a three-day study tour at USJ Macao, which occurred from 19 – 21 January and 10 – 12 February. The tour showcased state-of-the-art campus facilities, including laboratories and studios. Students engaged in cultural activities co-organised by the Office for Students and Alumni Affairs and the International Affairs Office. These activities included sharing sessions on the lives of local Filipino students, hands-on craft workshops, a Chinese Calligraphy Red Banner experience, and a tour of the USJ NAPE campus. A highlight of the tour was the visit to the Microeconomics class taught by Prof. Florence Lei, designed for first-year students. This experience offered students a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in university life and engage in discussions with their peers. Participants reported a positive experience, successfully adapting to the course rhythm and expressing delight in the dynamic classroom environment fostered by the professor.

This partnership exemplifies a significant step forward in fostering academic collaboration and cultural exchange between institutions, enriching the educational experiences of students involved.

About College of St. Anthony & School of St. Anthony

In 1982, a young couple’s dream to bring to life the vision of St. Anthony Mary Claret came true. They wanted to create leaders with strong virtues through education. This led to the founding of the Saint Anthony Learning Center. As the school grew in size and number of students, it changed its name to the School of Saint Anthony (SSA).

Driven by a passion for quality education, the College of Saint Anthony (CSA) was established in the City of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, in 2008. Initially, CSA planned to offer college programs, but the community asked for a good basic education provider. So, CSA shifted its focus to basic education, offering classes from preschool to grade 10. Later, it added a senior high school (SHS) program in line with the Department of Education’s K to 12 initiatives. Source: CSA Official website
