Materiality, beyond the norm
The USJ Department of Architecture and Design (DAD) announces its 2024-2025 Lecture Series: Materiality, Beyond the Norm. This series invites students, architects, designers, and the broader community to engage in open dialogue with leading practitioners who are redefining the boundaries of architecture and design. As the world grapples with significant challenges, this lecture series will explore how innovative approaches to materiality can reshape our built environment. By focusing on the intersection of form, function, and substance, the lectures will inspire critical thinking and encourage unconventional design solutions.
DAD is committed to fostering a culture of experimentation and innovation. At USJ, we aim to showcase the work of visionary studios and stimulate conversations that push the boundaries of traditional architectural and design practices. Join us for a series of thought-provoking lectures that will ignite your creativity.
About the Talk:
The lecture explores the evolution of architectural thought, moving beyond the isolated architectural object to consider its profound impact on the surrounding territory. It delves into the trajectory of architectural ideas, examining how designs are not merely static structures but dynamic forces that shape and are shaped by their environments.
