Macau Architectural Photography Competition 2025: Capturing Architecture "Inside Out"

01

Jun

The Macau Architectural Photography Competition 2025 is now accepting entries under the theme “Inside Out” until 30 June! This year’s competition has two categories – open group and student group – and will offer cash prizes and certificates to the winners.

CURB – Center for Architecture and Urbanism, in partnership with the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FAH) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ), is hosting the fourth edition of Macau Architectural Photography Competition and calling on photographers and enthusiasts to step inside Macao’s built environment and discover the rarely-seen details of architecture from the INSIDE OUT, encouraging participants to move beyond the exterior environment and capture the essence of spaces where people live and interact.

While architecture is often judged by its outward appearance – its façade, form, volume and surroundings – the real experience lies within. The competition invites photographers to document how interior spaces transform structures into meaningful places and to highlight how interiors shape the true character of buildings. By shifting the perspective inward, the contest aims to showcase Macao’s architecture in a fresh and revealing way.

The competition has two categories – open group and student group – and will offer cash prizes and certificates to the winners. The submission deadline is June 30, 2025. All entries will be evaluated by a panel of experienced judges who will select the best photographs that will feature the winner’s exhibition.

To enter the competition, participants are invited to upload their photographs through the submission link available on the competition’s website: https://competition.curb-center.com/.

The Macau Architectural Photography Competition has run successfully for three consecutive years since its launch in 2022, drawing enthusiastic engagement from photographers of all levels – professionals, amateurs, students, and the general public. Over this period, the competition has attracted 539 participants and collected 1,273 submissions, delivering exceptional outcomes and growing interest.
