Department of Architecture and Design 2026/2027 Lecture Series: Human Measure
The USJ Department of Architecture and Design (DAD) is pleased to announce its 2026-2027 Lecture Series: Human Measure. This series invites students, architects, designers, and the broader community to engage in open dialogue with leading practitioners on the relation between design and the human being. Graphics, objects, products, buildings and cities are made for people. The lectures will address how practice can return the human measure to the origin of the project, across scales that run from the hand to the city. DAD is committed to fostering a culture of experimentation and critical enquiry. At USJ, we aim to showcase the work of visionary studios and to stimulate conversations on what it may mean to design around and for human beings. Join us for a series of lectures that take this relation as a relevant question for practice rather than a settled principle.

About the Talk:
Stop asking the correct way. Trust your eye. Accept that the work is unproven. Choose the uncommon path anyway — and know what that choice cost. A talk about practicing design the way you actually see, before anyone can say you were right.
About the Speaker:
Alice Mourou
.Oddity Studio | Hong Kong
Alice (b. 1989) is designer and conceptual artists. In 2018 she founded her own design practice .Oddity Studio based in Hong Kong.
The studio focuses on Branding, Graphic Design, Art and Creative Direction and works internationally with wide range of clients. Her approach could be described as conceptual, where underlying ideas dictate visual forms.
Her work has been recognized many times with awards from D&AD, Tokyo TDC, Dezzen, One Show, ADC New York, Award360°, and has appeared in prestigious design media. Alice was invited by Apple, D&AD Festival and others as a speaker to share her creative practice with a wider audience and has participated in local and international group graphic design exhibitions, and in 2024 had her first solo exhibition in Hong Kong. In 2026 she became D&AD judge in New Brand Identity category.
