The promotional event for the “Hengqin International Sci-Techinnovation Competition for Portuguese- and Spanish-speaking Countries”, organised by the Macau Spin Incubation Center, will take place on 7 August, from 2 – 5PM, at the Don Bosco Auditorium.
About the Competition:
The Hengqin International Sci-Techinnovation Competition for Portuguese- and Spanish-speaking Countries is hosted by the Hengqin Guangdong-Macau ain Depth Cooperation Zone Executive Committee, with the theme “Next Stop: China: The First Step Towards the Chinese Market”. This competition runs from April to November 2026, and it has three overseas offline sub-venues in Lisbon, Portugal; São Paulo, Brazil; and Macau SAR, China. Shortlisted finalist will be competing in Hengqin. The competition focuses on six cutting-edge tracks: 1) Digital intelligence integration and artificial intelligence; 2) Green energy and sustainable development; 3) High-Tech manufacturing and new materials; 4) Traditional Chinese medicine and big health; 5) Cultural tourism and exhibitions and digital commerce; 6) Modern agriculture. The target of the competition is to obtain no fewer than 500 high-quality projects, with 100 winners and a total prize pool of approximately 200 million RMB which equates to 20% winning rate for competitors.
About the Event:
This event aims to comprehensively promote the complete competition system of the China-Portugal-Spain International Science and Technology Innovation Competition to science and technology enterprises, startups, and university research teams throughout Macao, clearly explaining the competition rules, entry requirements, awards, and supporting benefits; to fully leverage the competition’s advantages in connecting with the mainland market, offering substantial prize money, and facilitating industrial resource implementation, thereby encouraging high-quality local Macao science and technology innovation projects to actively participate; and to establish a face-to-face communication channel between Macao’s science and technology innovation entities and the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao In Depth Cooperation Zone, providing on-site specialized consultation and precise industry matching services on Hengqin’s industrial policies and investment and financing resources, helping Macao’s science and technology innovation enterprises leverage the competition platform to establish themselves in Hengqin and expand into the vast mainland market.
About USJ’s Macau Spin Incubation Center:
This particular event is organised by the Macau Spin Incubation Center of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ). The Center is positioned as a core service platform connecting startups in Portuguese-speaking countries with the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area. Leveraging Macao’s local science and technology innovation ecosystem, this special promotion event targets Macao’s science and technology innovation entities, aiming to deeply explore high-quality local science and technology innovation projects to participate in national-level cross-border science and technology innovation competitions.
