The two institutions held discussions and officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) reaching multiple consensus on international exchanges and student talent cultivation.
A delegation from Dongguan University of Technology visited the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) Macao on 23 July, 2026. The two institutions held discussions and officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), reaching multiple consensus on international exchanges and student talent cultivation, jointly advancing the sharing of higher education resources and talent development collaboration within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
The delegation was led by Prof. Ma Hongwei, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Dongguan University of Technology, and included Huang Bin, Director of the Office of Development Planning (Institute of Higher Education), and Huang Yingxing, International Coordinator of the Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs. USJ was represented by Acting Rector Dr. Alejandro Salcedo Garcia, Vice-Rector for Student Life Dr. Teresa Loong, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law Prof. Jenny Phillips, Head of the Domestic Student Recruitment Office Ben Lei, and Senior Officer Jenny Mok.
During the meeting, Acting Rector Alejandro Salcedo Garcia delivered a welcome address, introducing USJ’s international education philosophy and emphasising that the university values not only the transmission of knowledge but also the cultivation of students’ moral character and holistic development. President Ma Hongwei shared Dongguan University of Technology’s internationalisation strategies and academic development directions, expressing expectations for future collaboration between the two institutions.
Following in-depth discussions, both sides formally signed the MoU in the presence of representatives from both institutions. Souvenirs were exchanged and a group photo was taken after the ceremony.
This signing marks a further expansion of USJ’s collaboration network with higher education institutions in the Greater Bay Area. USJ will continue to leverage Macao’s unique advantages as a platform between China and Portuguese-speaking countries and as an international education hub, deepening its engagement with mainland institutions to jointly cultivate talents with international perspectives, professional competence, and a strong sense of social responsibility, contributing to the coordinated development of regional higher education.
This collaboration aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
