The book ” Media, Art & Technology in the Nine Portuguese-Speaking Cultures” was launched on 5 June at the Universidade Católica Timorense (UCT) – São João Paulo II, through the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences.
The launch session featured a conference on the theme “Media in Timor-Leste: Legacy and Mission”, with invited guest speaker Prof. José Manuel Simões from the Department of Media, Art and Technology of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ), who also served as the editor of the book.
Published by USJ Academic Press in 2025, the book brings together contributions from academics from the nine Portuguese-speaking territories – Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Macau, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Timor-Leste – structured around contemporary themes in the fields of media, art and technology.
The launch in Timor-Leste is part of a series of presentations already held in Portugal, Cape Verde, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Macao. The book is available in open-access digital format as well as in print version.

Lançamento do livro “Media, Arte e Tecnologia nas Nove Culturas de Língua Portuguesa” em Timor-Leste
O livro “Media, Arte & Tecnologia nas Nove Culturas de Língua Portuguesa” foi lançado no dia 5 de Junho na Universidade Católica Timorense (UCT) – São João Paulo II, através da Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas.
A sessão de lançamento integrou uma conferência subordinada ao tema “Os Media em Timor-Leste: Legado e Missão”, tendo como orador convidado o Professor José Manuel Simões do Departamento de Media, Arte e Tecnologia da Faculdade de Artes e Humanidades da Universidade de São José (USJ), e editor da obra.
Publicado pela USJ Academic Press em 2025, o livro reúne contributos de académicos oriundos dos nove territórios de língua portuguesa – Angola, Brasil, Cabo Verde, Guiné-Bissau, Macau, Moçambique, Portugal, São Tomé e Príncipe e Timor-Leste –, estruturado em torno de temas contemporâneos nas áreas da media, arte e tecnologia.
O lançamento em Timor-Leste insere-se num conjunto de apresentações já realizadas em Portugal, Cabo Verde, São Tomé e Príncipe e Macau. A obra está disponível em formato digital de acesso aberto e em versão impressa.
