Prof. Helen Liu, Assistant Professor from the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ), participated as a guest speaker in the webinar “Culture in Action: Community Service for Global Readiness”, held online on 28 May 2026.
Prof. Helen Liu, Assistant Professor from the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ), participated as a guest speaker in the webinar “Culture in Action: Community Service for Global Readiness”, held online on 28 May 2026.
The webinar was organised by the Human Resource Department of the Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation (MSEUF), Philippines, a partner institution of USJ. The event brought together educators and professionals to discuss the role of community engagement in preparing students for an increasingly interconnected world. The event brought together more than 150 faculty members and non-teaching staff.
Prof. Liu currently serves as Programme Leader of the Prison Outreach Programme at USJ. During the webinar, she delivered a presentation titled “Culture in Action: Community Service for Global Readiness – International”, in which she shared insights into the vital role of community service, intercultural engagement, and international exposure in developing graduates with global competencies. Drawing on examples from USJ’s outreach and community engagement initiatives, she highlighted how higher education institutions can foster students’ global readiness through meaningful connections with local and international communities. Her participation in the webinar reflects USJ’s ongoing commitment to strengthening international partnerships and contributing to global discussions on education, service-learning, and community engagement.
The programme also featured Dr. Robert Frederick P. Hayden, Executive Director for International Affairs and Partnerships at the Asian Institute of Maritime Studies (AIMS), who addressed the theme from a local perspective. Participants had the opportunity to engage with both speakers during dedicated question-and-answer sessions.


Prof. Liu is currently the Research Coordinator of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Programme Leader of the Prison Outreach Programme at USJ. Her participation in this webinar reflects the University’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships and contributing to global discussions on education, service learning, and community engagement.
Since the renewal of their partnership in 2025, USJ and MSEUF have continued to strengthen their institutional ties through collaborative initiatives and knowledge-sharing activities, reflecting their shared commitment to inclusive education, community engagement, and social responsibility.
