The 3rd Deignan Award for Responsible Entrepreneurship will be officially launched on 16 June 2026 at USJ Macao! Applications are open from 16 June to 2 November 2026.
The Deignan Award for Responsible Entrepreneurship is jointly organised by Wofoo Social Enterprises (Hong Kong), the Macau Ricci Institute under University of Saint Joseph, and the University of Saint Joseph – through its Faculty of Business and Law of and Sustainable Business Lab. It has become a leading cross-border platform promoting ethical SMEs in Hong Kong and Macau. The 3rd Deignan Award for Responsible Entrepreneurship will be officially launched on 16 June 2026 in Macau.

About the Award:
The Deignan Award honours the legacy of Fr. Alfred J. Deignan, S.J. by recognising small and medium enterprises that demonstrate outstanding responsible business practices and create positive social impact.
The Award focuses on SMEs operating within the cross-cultural centres of Hong Kong and Macau. It aims to encourage key decision-makers who exhibit exemplary ethical behaviour that contributes to the common good of society.
Across the 1st and 2nd editions, the Deignan Award has developed a strong and growing pool of responsible SMEs and featured multiple public seminars with high-profile speakers engaging the government, business, and academic sectors. The 2nd Award Ceremony on 29 March 2025 at USJ, Macau, attracted over 100 distinguished guests from government, business, and academia, including Ms. Cheang Hio Man, Deputy Director of the Macau Economic and Technological Development Bureau, and Mr. Ho Kai-ming, JP, Hong Kong Under Secretary for Labour and Welfare.
3rd Edition – “The Ethical Edge”
Commemorating the 100th birth anniversary of Fr. Alfred J. Deignan, S.J., this edition explores how ethical leadership and humanistic management serve as a compass for business excellence in the AI era — turning values into sustainable competitive advantage.

Call for Applications:
Applications for the 3rd Deignan Award are open from 16 June to 2 November 2026.
The Award recognises SMEs in Hong Kong and Macau that demonstrate outstanding responsible business practices and positive social impact, in memory of Fr. Alfred J. Deignan, S.J.
Eligibility:
- Registered businesses with substantial economic activities in Hong Kong or Macau for at least one year
- SMEs: Enterprises employing fewer than 100 persons
- Awards are given to the company or a particular division (not individual projects)
- HKSAR and MacauSAR Government departments/agencies are not eligible
