The university’s OSAA and USJ Green Club organised a two-day event on campus to help faculty and students better understand the SDGs and how to save energy.

In order to enhance the understanding of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) and energy conservation among the university’s faculty and students, the Office for Students and Alumni Affairs (OSAA) of USJ, in collaboration with the USJ Green Club, held a two-day campus booth activity. The booth featured an “SDGs quiz game”, “A Biodiversity Puzzle Challenge”, and “USJ Green Club Information Station”. Through these activities, participants were encouraged to deepen their awareness and practical engagement with green education.

The event took place on 5 and 6 February at the Ilha Verde Campus. As a member of the Green Club and a doctoral student in Environmental Sciences and Management programme, Miss Mikael Leong shared her experience of collaborating with OSAA to organize the booth. She believed that through this process, she deepened her understanding of the SDGs.The booth aims to enhance public awareness of the SDGs Goals through interactive and educational activities. The booth featured an SDGs quiz game and a biodiversity puzzle, encouraging participants to learn about environmental sustainability, biodiversity conservation, and the connections between human activities and natural ecosystems.

A year-two student from the Master of Education programme who participated in this event found it not only enjoyable but also highly inspirational. Moreover, it was highly inspiring and deepened the understanding of environmental issues through the process of play. She hopes that the university will organize more interdisciplinary green activities in the future, attracting faculty and students from diverse academic backgrounds to discuss and practice together, allowing sustainability awareness to take root in the campus culture.
