The Faculty of Health Sciences participated in the “2025 Greater Bay Area Student Professional Skill Enhancement Exchange Program in Guangzhou”.
Sponsored by the Education and Youth Development Bureau and organised by the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ), the “2025 Greater Bay Area Student Professional Skill Enhancement Exchange Program in Guangzhou” took place from December 13 to 14. The exchange delegation organised thirty students from the FHS to visit patriotic education bases in Guangzhou and participate in an international symposium. While enhancing their knowledge, they also engaged in a two-day “Tracing Red Footprints, Continuing the Spirit’s Legacy” educational practice activities.
During the visit, participants toured the Sunyuanli Anti-British Museum and Memorial Park and the KwangTung Government Arsenal. At Sanyuanli, they visited the heroic deeds of local residents who rose up against British invaders in 1841. The exhibition hall’s rich historical artifacts, photographs, and scene reconstructions offered a fresh perspective on this heroic chapter of modern Chinese history, allowing participants to feel the spirit of unity and indomitable resistance demonstrated by the people of that era. At the KwangTung Government Arsenal, the docent vividly recounted the early Communist Party’s pivotal role in leading the workers’ movement and spreading revolutionary ideas in Guangzhou. The group gained a profound appreciation for the historical significance of this mission and its original aspirations.
Additionally, the group attended the “2025 International Symposium on Children and Youth Health and Well-Being” at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, participating in keynote and parallel forums with fruitful outcomes. The USJ Faculty of Health Sciences committed to its fundamental mission of fostering virtue through education, integrating ideological guidance into talent development. This visit represents a significant initiative by the faculty to innovate ideological and political education formats and enrich the practical dimensions of nurturing talent. It will continue to expand educational resources, guiding students to establish correct perspectives on history, ethnicity, the nation, and culture, while fostering well-rounded development in moral and intellectual education.
