About the Speakers:

Prof. Markus Henh

Prof. Dr. Markus teaches and conducts research in the field of corporate finance at Mainz University of Applied Sciences. Before being appointed professor at Mainz University of Applied Sciences in 2015, he was a professor at the European University of Applied Sciences. In his professional career in the field of M&A, he worked for Deloitte and DZ BANK as Director of M&A, among others. Markus Hehn earned his degree in business administration from the University of Trier. Markus received his doctorate from the University of St. Gallen (HSG) in Switzerland. In addition to his professorship, he advises medium-sized companies, private equity investors, and listed companies in the field of M&A as managing partner of MA-Solutions GmbH.

Prof. Henh’s presentation, “Sustainability Reporting in Europe” highlights the current regulatory framework for sustainability reporting in the European Union and analyses how this influences corporate practices, controlling and the strategic orientation of companies. The focus is on the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the Corporate Sustainability due Diligence directive (CSDDD), two key pieces of legislation introduced as part of the European Green Deal to increase the transparency, comparability and credibility of sustainable information.

Mr. Vicent Tse

Vincent Tse taught at Economics Department of University of Macau in 1980’s. He then joined Hong Kong Monetary Authority. In mid 1990’s he started an economic consultancy company in Hong Kong. He retired in 2023. He remains active in ESG activities in Macau, Hong Kong, and the Greater Bay Area. He is Vice President of Macau Green and Low Carbon Industry Association, and Adjunct Researcher of USJ.

Vincent Tse will outline development of green finance markets in Macau with special emphasis on the green bond market which has been growing rapidly in past few years. Opportunities, difficulties, limitations, possible solutions will be examined. Comparisons will be drawn between Macau and Hong Kong, Macau and Luxembourg, and lessons to be learned. He will discuss and analyse with the participants a real world case of a sustainability startup established by a local university.
