The youth delegation from Yunfu visited the Ilha Verde campus of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) on the 19th of April, 2024.



The youth delegation from Yunfu visited the Ilha Verde campus of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) on the 19th of April, 2024. Upon their arrival, the delegates attended an interactive exchange meeting aimed at strengthening interconnectivity and fostering deeper cooperation between the two regions.

An exchange meeting was held between the delegation and USJ. The Yunfu youth delegation included 團市委書記郭煒城 (Guo Weicheng, Secretary of the Communist Youth League of the Yunfu Municipal Committee), 青聯副主席黃嘉明、何雪樂、吳覺醒 (Huang Jiaming, He Xuele, Wu Juexing, Vice Chairmen of Yunfu City Youth Federation),秘書長吳逸飛 (Wu Yifei, Secretary-General of Yunfu City Youth Federation) and several representatives from enterprises. Representing USJ were Dr. Teresa Loong, Vice-Rector of USJ; Prof. Emil Marques, Executive Training and Project Development Coordinator of the Faculty of Business and Law; Mr. David Yang, Head of the Institutional Development Office (IDO); Mr. Addy Chan, Chairman of the Alumni Association of USJ (AAUSJ); and Ms. Jenny Lam, Head of the Office for Student and Alumni Affairs (OSAA).

During the event, Vice-Rector Teresa Loong delivered a warm welcome speech to the delegation, mentioning that AAUSJ had visited Yunfu City in late August last year with the guidance of the Yunfu City Youth Federation, the Communist Youth League Yunfu Municipal Committee, and the Xinxing County Committee. They visited key local enterprises and national cultural heritage conservation units. She expressed her delight that the delegation had the opportunity to visit USJ and hoped that both sides would continue to deepen their exchange and cooperation in the future.

Subsequently, Mr. David Yang and Prof. Emil Marques introduced USJ’s historical characteristics and its advantages in regional cooperation. They also shared the achievements of USJ in cooperation with mainland enterprises and industrial incubation bases, as well as their efforts in facilitating cooperation between Chinese and Portuguese industries. During the meeting, the Yunfu youth delegation presented a short video introducing the latest information on key industrial projects and cultural life in Yunfu City to the faculty, staff, and students of USJ. The event concluded with the exchange of commemorative gifts between the two parties.

USJ expresses its gratitude to the delegation for their visit. USJ will continue to devote itself to promoting the development of academia, culture, and various fields through exchanges and cooperation with multiple parties.
