USJ staff and students visited the “Chinese People’s Liberation Army Macao Garrison Taipa Barracks Open Day” Student Session on 30 April, 2024. USJ aims to deepen the participants’ understanding of national security and cultivate the university students considering a strong positive energy of patriotism and love for Macao through this visit.



The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) staff and students visited the “Chinese People’s Liberation Army Macao Garrison Taipa Barracks Open Day” Student Session on the 30th April, 2024. The open day included a military training demonstration, equipment display, training experience, and a visit to the military exhibition hall. In addition to observing the professionalism and dedication of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Macao Garrison, USJ aims to deepen the participants’ understanding of national security and cultivate the university student’s patriotism and knowledge through this visit.

A national flag-raising ceremony is held at 10 a.m. in the morning. After the solemn ceremony, participants watched soldiers of the garrison stage military exercises, including combat and anti-terrorist drills, as well as providing a camp tour, and cultural and art performances. To show the good military quality and fighting style of Chinese soldiers. 

Some of the students who visited the Taipa Barracks for the first time considered the open day a rare opportunity to learn more about the daily lives of the PLA Macao Garrison. They also explain that through the wonderful performances and the on-site observation of the military equipment, they gained a deeper understanding of the defence of the motherland and the PLA Macao Garrison.
