The School of Education at USJ hosted the “AI-Empowered Practical Teaching Workshop” on 23 January 23. The event, conducted in Cantonese, drew enthusiastic participation from teaching staff across numerous local schools. Delivered by Dr. Chan Sze Shing Edmund and moderated by Prof. Iris Mak, Programme Coordinator of the Post-Graduate Diploma in Education, the workshop provided a dynamic platform for educators to explore artificial intelligence as a powerful ally in teaching.
With participants actively engaging to explore AI’s full teaching potential, the workshop aimed to help educators move beyond any initial apprehension toward AI technology and directly engage with its practical applications. Dr. Chan guided attendees through an in-depth exploration of various practical AI tools, showcasing their effective use in key areas such as lesson preparation, personalised learning design, automated assignment grading, and administrative support. Through hands-on demonstrations and interactive exercises, participants gained firsthand experience in seamlessly integrating AI into everyday teaching practices – alleviating administrative burdens and allowing more time and energy to be devoted to building deeper connections with students.
The School of Education hopes that this workshop will open a new chapter in intelligent teaching for local educators, empowering them to innovate and thrive in the AI era. Heartfelt thanks are extended to all participants for their enthusiastic engagement, making the event a truly inspiring, connective, and practically valuable learning experience.
