University of Saint Joseph Joins IFCU Centenary General Assembly Celebrating 100 Years of International Federation of Catholic Universities (IFCU)

USJ participated in the Federation’s Centenary General Assembly commemorating a century of global collaboration in Catholic higher education, together with more than 100 leaders of Catholic Universities from all over the world.
The University of Saint Joseph (USJ), an active member of the International Federation of Catholic Universities (IFCU), participated in the Federation’s Centenary General Assembly, commemorating a century of global collaboration in Catholic higher education, together with more than 100 leaders of Catholic Universities from all over the world.
Representing USJ at the event were Rector, Rev. Prof. Stephen Morgan, elected Vice-President of the IFCU Board of Administration for 2025–2028, and Vice-Rector for Internationalisation and Academic Affairs, Prof. Álvaro Barbosa. Both leaders took part in the 28th IFCU General Assembly and contributed to the conference titled “The Catholic University as a Driver of Social Impact” at the Catholic University UNIVA – Universidad del Valle de Atemajac, Mexico.
Throughout the conference, USJ’s delegation engaged in sessions focused on academic innovation, sustainability, intercultural dialogue, and the evolving role of Catholic universities in today’s global landscape. Drawing on the university’s experience in the Asia-Pacific region, they shared valuable insights and best practices with fellow institutions.
Additionally, Rev. Prof. Stephen Morgan chaired the General Assembly Inaugural Conference on the topic of Academic Diplomacy and Professor Barbosa delivered a workshop to University leaders entitled “Catholic University: A Place of Creativity and Knowledge”.
USJ’s participation in this event was made possible through the financial support of the Macao Foundation. This collaboration highlights the university’s commitment to international engagement and its mission to foster positive social transformation. It also reflects USJ’s dedication to positioning Macao’s higher education sector on the global stage.

Universidade de São José participa na Assembleia Geral do Centenário da Federação Internacional das Universidades Católicas (IFCU) comemorando os seus 100 anos
A Universidade de São José (USJ), membro da Federação Internacional das Universidades Católicas (IFCU), participou da Assembleia Geral do Centenário da Federação, comemorando um século de colaboração global no ensino superior católico, juntamente com mais de 100 líderes de universidades católicas de todo o mundo.
Representando a USJ no evento estiveram o Reitor, Rev. Prof. Stephen Morgan, eleito Vice-Presidente do Conselho de Administração da IFCU para 2025-2028, e o Vice-Reitor para a Internacionalização e Assuntos Académicos, Prof. Álvaro Barbosa. Ambos os líderes participaram na 28.ª Assembleia Geral da IFCU e contribuíram para a conferência intitulada «A Universidade Católica como Motor de Impacto Social» na Universidade Católica UNIVA – Universidad del Valle de Atemajac, México.
Ao longo da conferência, a delegação da USJ participou em sessões centradas na inovação académica, sustentabilidade, diálogo intercultural e na evolução do papel das universidades católicas no panorama global actual. Com base na experiência da universidade na região Ásia-Pacífico, compartilharam informações valiosas e as melhores práticas com outras instituições.
O Reitor Morgan presidiu também a Conferência Inaugural da Assembleia Geral sobre o tema da Diplomacia Académica e o Vice-Reitor Barbosa ministrou um workshop aos líderes universitários intitulado «Universidade Católica: Um Lugar de Criatividade e Conhecimento».
A participação da USJ neste evento foi possível através do apoio financeiro da Fundação de Macau. Esta colaboração destaca o compromisso da universidade com o envolvimento internacional e a sua missão de promover uma transformação social positiva. Também reflete a dedicação da USJ em posicionar o sector do ensino superior de Macau no cenário global.
