USJ’s Prof. Jayson Lou, Coordinator of the Master of Social Work programme, was invited as the keynote speaker at the “Master Series Lectures” held at Jilin International Studies University.
On May 29, Prof. Jayson Lou, Coordinator of the Master of Social Work programme at the University of Saint Joseph, was invited as the keynote speaker at the “Master Series Lectures” held at Jilin International Studies University. The lecture focused on “Community and Volunteer Governance Collaboration,” aiming to promote in-depth exchanges in community governance and volunteer services.
In his presentation, Prof. Lou explored the different stages of volunteer development and provided a detailed analysis of the SMART principles and evaluation systems in volunteer activity design. He combined this with practical insights into community consultation and promotion, showcasing innovative models and practices in community and volunteer governance in Macao. His insights highlighted advanced experiences in building community service systems and volunteer management, offering valuable references for the governance needs in mainland communities.
During the session, students actively engaged by asking questions about the roles of social organizations in community governance, long-term cooperation between universities and social organizations, and changes in youth participation motivations for volunteer service.
The successful hosting of this lecture not only provided valuable intellectual support for the students at Jilin International Studies University but also laid a solid foundation for deepening cooperation between the two institutions. Moving forward, both parties aim to explore innovative pathways for integrating community governance and volunteer service, nurturing talents with social responsibility and practical capabilities.
