“Better Together” – Open Class of USJ Communication and Media Master Students was successfully held on 12 June at 7 pm at the Albergue SCM.

Nineteen (19) learning outcomes from sixteen (16) master students of the Communication and Media programme of the University of Saint Joseph Macao (USJ) were showcased at an open session held on 12 June 2023, at the Albergue SCM. Some scholars and well-known local persons were invited to participate in a fruitful exchange. The event concluded with a speech made by Architect Carlos Marreiros.

Speaking at the event, the Head of the Media, Art & Technology Department of USJ, Associate Professor José Manuel Simões said that in the current media technology landscape, the production of Communication content has been growing. The consumer became the producer. Nonetheless, to achieve a professional standard quality, it is important to master media-specific practices, techniques, and workflows. At the MCM programme, different communication fields are analysed and discussed. Students will be capable of demonstrating knowledge and understanding of essential theories and practices used in communication production. They learn that words, ideas, and values can change the world.

The work presented in this open course covers students’ work in a range of learning areas, including Audiovisual Media Production; Marketing and Corporate Communication; Systematic Creativity and Entrepreneurship; Media, Society and Culture; Infographics and Multimedia Design; Public Relations and Event Management; Ethics and Global Citizenship; and Visual Culture. Students who participated in this open course found the diversity of the program helpful in furthering their understanding of theories and operations in the field of communication and in inspiring their thinking to seize the opportunities in the future in the development of new media and integrated media to meet the positioning of the Special Administrative Region as a “One Center, One Platform” and the “1+4” industry development.
