USJ held a Blind Walk for on March 31, 2023 at USJ Ilha Verde Campus.

On March 31, the Office for Students and Alumni Affairs (OSAA), USJ alumnus (Master of Counseling and Psychotherapy) Mr. Eric Leong Ka Chon and his team organised this year’s USJ Blind Walk.

This unique workshop provides students with an outlook on how visually impaired people perform their day-to-day tasks.

Participants were blindfolded during the experiment and learned the skills to distinguish different daily objects, such as the amounts of coins and banknotes, and identify the type of packages of snacks and soft drinks. In the second part of the workshop, Eric instructed the students on how to utilize the white cane correctly in order to navigate to their destination.

The University of Saint Joseph Macao (USJ) is dedicated to promoting a caring, ethically and socially responsible society. The main objective of the Blind Walk activity is to allow participants to experience the inconvenience and discomfort of lost sight and to gain knowledge on how to assist the visually impaired when in need.

The event was sponsored by Macao Foundation.
