USJ and Guangzhou College of Commerce Deepen Strategic Partnership with New Agreement

Building on an existing MoU, the agreement reinforces both institutions’ commitment to advancing academic exchange and talent development in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area.



The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) and Guangzhou College of Commerce (GCC) strengthened their collaborative ties by signing a new agreement during a ceremony held at USJ’s Ilha Verde Campus on 8 of January, 2026. Building on an existing Memorandum of Understanding, the agreement reinforces both institutions’ commitment to advancing academic exchange and talent development in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area.

The GCC delegation was led by Vice President Zhou Peng, and included Deputy Director of the Board of Directors Office Liang Jiayi, Deputy Dean of the International College Hong Zhenhua, and Foreign Affairs Specialist Zeng Qi. USJ was represented by Vice-Rector for Student Life Teresa Loong, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law Jenny Phillips, Head of the Domestic Student Recruitment Office Ben Lei, Head of the Institutional Development Office David Yang, and Senior Officer of the Domestic Student Recruitment Office Jenny Mok.

Areas of focus mentioned in the meeting include faculty and student exchanges, short-term study visits, and joint research initiatives. This partnership further enhances Macao’s distinctive role as a bridge between Mainland China and Portuguese-speaking countries, as well as its position within the Greater Bay Area framework.

The agreement marks a concrete step forward in the strategic relationship between USJ and GCC. Together, the two institutions aim to cultivate globally minded, competitive professionals equipped to contribute to regional development.
