USJ And China Institute For Responsible Management Education And Sustainable Development Sign Agreement To Jointly Establish Macau Centre

The Macao Observatory for Social Development (MOSD) of USJ and the China Institute for Responsible Management Education and Sustainable Development (CIRMESD) have signed a Memorandum of Agreement to jointly develop the “Macao Centre of the China Institute for Responsible Management Education and Sustainable Development (Macao-CIRMESD)”.



The Macau Social Development Observation Center of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) and the China Institute of Responsible Management Education and Sustainable Development have reached a strategic cooperation agreement and jointly established the “China Institute of Responsible Management Education and Sustainable Development Macau Center”. This cooperation actively responds to the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) initiative proposed by the United Nations Global Compact in 2007 and takes the lead in promoting the development of responsible management education in Macao’s education sector. It is hoped that more universities in Macao will actively implement sustainable development education in teaching. In the future, the Macau Center will encourage more Macau business schools to actively apply to become PRME’s contract partners.

In the afternoon of the same day, the Macau Social Development Observation Center of the USJ received a delegation from the China Institute of Responsible Management Education and Sustainable Development and held a “Roundtable Conference: Creating a Way Out for Responsible Management Education” at USJ. The meeting was hosted by Dr. Ho Chong Kin, Director of the Center, and together with a group of scholars, the team of Professor Huang Haifeng, Member of the PRME Advisory Board (2020-2023) and Co-Dean of the Institute, exchanged insights on responsible management education. Professor Huang Haifeng represented Dean Lu Hualiang expressed his sincere gratitude for the invitation.

USJ Vice-Rector for External Affairs and Institutional Development, Prof. Zhang Shuguang, welcomed the guests and introduced the development of Macao and the University, as well as the expectations for sustainable development. The two sides exchanged views on the well-being of human development, including health, people’s caring literacy, and the nurturing of young people and university students, and the Institute shared its experience in the establishment of science and technology and business promotion in tertiary institutions in the Greater Bay Area.

The roundtable was hosted by the Director of MOSD, Prof Jacky Ho. MOSD researchers and scholars exchanged views on responsible management education with the CIRMESD delegation led by the Institute’s Co-Director, Dr. Haifeng Huang,

Both parties agreed on the importance of promoting responsible management education and to establish future cooperation. Both sides defined a cooperation framework and signed a Memorandum of Agreement during the meeting to jointly develop the “Macao Centre of China Institute for Responsible Management Education and Sustainable Development (Macao-CIRMESD)” .

Attendees at the roundtable meeting included MOSD’s members Dr. Jayson Lou and Dr. Francisco Botelho, Officer Mr. Erik Kok, Dr.  Cheng Dong Shu and Dr. Han Jingyi , as well as representatives from CIRMESD, Dr. Zhang Yalong , Dr. Wang Wenzhao , Dr. Sun Yuhang , Mr. Judong, Mr. Lin Xu and Mr. Zhao Xihao . In addition, the RME China Academic Committee also welcomes Macao representatives Dr Ho Chong Kin, Dr Lou Chi Kin, Dr Cheng Dongshu and Dr Han Jingyi to become members of the RME China Academic Committee.
