Treston International College (TIC) conducted a visit to the USJ Macao on the 4th December, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in Manila this January. This visit represents a significant advancement toward the implementation of collaborative initiatives aimed at strengthening the relationships between the two educational institutions. One of the significant aspects of the cooperation is USJ’s commitment to support TIC’s high school students by offering a distinctive scholarship tuition scheme for both students and teachers, facilitating their journey toward studying at USJ.

The TIC delegation was warmly welcomed by Prof. Álvaro Barbosa, Vice-Rector for Internationalisation and Academic Affairs, and Dr. Teresa Loong, Vice-Rector for Student Life.

During the meeting, representatives from various departments at USJ elucidated not only the features of their academic programs and internship opportunities but also the extensive array of student services available. These services include academic advising, mental health support, and extracurricular activities, as well as global exchange opportunities that facilitate international engagement among students.

The TIC delegation, comprising several faculty members along with 19 students and parents, engaged in substantive discussions regarding USJ’s academic offerings and campus facilities. The main objective was to assess USJ’s cutting-edge facilities and its international environment, which could significantly enhance the student’s educational experiences. The visit also included opportunities for students to immerse themselves in genuine student life at USJ Macao, thereby enabling them to collect first-hand insights into the campus culture and community dynamics.

TIC also expressed interest in exploring a wider spectrum of collaborative opportunities beyond joint faculty training in business. These discussions could lead to the development of joint research projects, faculty and student exchange programs, and collaborative initiatives designed to enrich the educational experiences at both institutions.

This visit represents a commitment to fostering meaningful academic partnerships and exploring innovative avenues for collaboration in higher education.

The attendees from TIC included: Ms. Gladys S. Estrella – Head, Student Affairs & Services Office; Mr. Kenneth C. Castillo – Assistant Principal for The Senior High School; Mr. Wilmor L. Pacay III – Head, Innovation, Publication & Research Office; and Mr. Reymark Estrella.
