日前本澳媒體在未經聖若瑟大學管理實體「天主教會大學暨高等教育基金」的確認下傳出有關遴選下一任大學校長的消息。現澄清事實如下：
1. 現任校長薛沛德神父（P. Peter Stilwell）作為校長的第二個任期將於本學年結束時屆滿。
2. 「天主教會大學暨高等教育基金」是負責在諮詢大學校董會成員後，遴選和任命繼任新校長。
3. 農曆新年假期前幾天，「天主教會大學暨高等教育基金」已發送諮詢信函給相關成員，而答覆諮詢的截止時限尚未結束。
4. 當取得諮詢結果後，天主教基金會將審議新校長任命一事。諮詢程序完成前將不再作任何聲明。
5.大學及其現任領導層在其出色的工作中得到澳門教區和天主教會大學暨高等教育基金的全力支持。

Foi dada notícia nos meios de comunicação social sobre o processo em curso para a escolha do futuro Reitor da Universidade de São José sem pedido de confirmação junto da Fundação Católica para o Ensino Superior Universitário, sua entidade titular. Os factos são os seguintes:
1. No final deste ano lectivo, o actual Reitor, P. Peter Stilwell, termina o seu segundo mandato à frente da Universidade.
2. Cabe à Fundação Católica escolher e nomear um sucessor, depois de consultados os membros do Conselho Superior da Universidade.
3. A carta de consulta foi enviada aos seus destinatários dias antes do Novo Ano Lunar Chinês e não expirou o prazo de resposta.
4. Com os resultados da consulta em mão, a Fundação Católica irá deliberar sobre a nomeação de um novo Reitor. Nenhuma declaração adicional sobre este assunto será feita até à conclusão do processo.
5. A Universidade e a sua actual direcção contam com o total apoio da Diocese de Macau e da Fundaçao Católica no excelente trabalho que desenvolvem.

News has been circulated in the media about the ongoing process for choosing the future Rector of the University of Saint Joseph. These stories have been written without seeking confirmation from the Catholic Foundation for Higher Education, which is the University’s titleholder. The facts are as follows:
1. At the end of this academic year, the current Rector, P. Peter Stilwell, ends his second term at the head of the University.
2. The Catholic Foundation for Higher Education is responsible for choosing and appointing a successor, after consulting the members of the General Council of the University.
3. The consultation letter was sent to its recipients days before the Chinese Lunar New Year and the timeline for replies to be received has not expired.
4. With the results of the consultation in hand, the Catholic Foundation will deliberate on the appointment of a new Rector. No further statements about this matter will be made until this process is completed.
5. The University and its current leadership have the full support of the Catholic Diocese of Macau and the Catholic Foundation for Higher Education in the excellent work they are doing.
