The Institute of Science and Environment (ISE) and the USJ Green Committee, along with students and staff from the University of Saint Joseph (USJ), joined hands to plant mangroves along the Taipa coastline last March  19, 2022.

The activity was a part of the yearly effort, led by mangrove forests researcher of ISE/USJ, Prof. Karen Tagulao, to promote the value of mangroves in Macao and raise environmental awareness in the local community.

The activity also relates to USJ’s initiative in addressing the SDGs (11: Sustainable cities and communities; 13:Climate Action; 14- Life Below Water; 15:Life on Land). Participants from USJ, together with their families, successfully planted around 1000 seedlings of Kandelia obovata (秋茄樹) Aegiceras corniculatum (桐花樹).
