Launching of "School of Education Innovative Teaching Lab"

USJ inaugurates the “School of Education Innovative Teaching Lab” designed to enhance future student-teachers’ use of digital tools in teaching, promoting digital literacy, innovative pedagogy, and digital equity.



On 6 February, the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) celebrated the official launch of the School of Education Innovative Teaching Lab, also known as the ‘SED Lab‘, located on the second floor of the Residential Hall in the Ilha Verde Campus. The launch was followed by a lecture on the ‘Theology of the Body’ delivered by the Bishop of Macao and Chancellor of USJ, His Excellency Bishop Stephen Lee Bun Sang, to all SED faculty members. The aim was to strengthen the Catholic identity and values-based education within the faculty.

The opening ceremony featured a formal blessing of the new SED Lab, conducted by Bishop Lee. Supported by the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ), the lab is operated by the Teachers’ Professional Development Centre at SED.

Designed to enhance the use of digital tools in teaching among future student-teachers, the SED Lab promotes digital literacy, innovative pedagogy, and digital equity. It supports the university’s dedication to excellence in teaching and learning research and practice, contributing to inclusive and holistic education and the development of important modern 21st-century skills.

Those in attendance at the opening included Acting Rector of USJ, Dr Alejandro Salcedo, Vice-Rector for Student Life, Dr. Teresa Loong, Dean of SED Prof. Isabel Tchiang, and all SED faculties members including Prof. Rochelle Ge, Prof. Iris Mak, Prof. Jan Ho, Prof. Miranda Mak, Prof Hao Wu, Prof. Susannah Sun, Prof. Wenmin Zhao, Prof. Molly Fan, Ms. Tammy Chu and Mr. Oscar Ng.
